Greetings! I have just returned from a six day camping trip up north at Ivanhoe Lake with my son. The Internet was 3G up there. Quite the step back in time. The slow speed of the wifi was something we are no longer accustomed to living near Toronto. Yet I could still make some posts to keep my blog updated. That made me happy to know I could. It was humorous to see my sons reaction to the slow speeds of the wifi.
This was a pretty remote area between between Timmins and Chapleau Ontario. Off of Highway 101. It was a park that has been on Luke and mines want to visit list for a couple of years. What is special about this park and area is it is home to a ‘spirit moose’ or ‘ghost moose’. White Moose ~ Not Albino – reside in this area. This is one of two places in the world where this happens apparently. The other place is somewhere in Sweden.
Aside from camping, exploring the park and having fun, a few nights went out to explore around the area to try to spot them. There are a few that live in the area and sightings are not in frequent. As the locals told us it is a matter of luck. We did not go out morning and night to try to find them but we did try our luck for a few nights. It seems luck was not on our side for sighting one. We did see one that unfortunately was killed by a train. It’s head was mounted and put on display in the local restaurant in Foleyet Ontario.
We absolutely loved this park and area. So peaceful and picturesque. Park staff and locals were all so genuinely nice. Many people take residencies in this park for the summer. The lake was warm and swimmable, unfortunately we did not catch any fish. We tried and will keep trying. One day we will land some
Photos will be added to this years camping album on my Facebook page, as usual. For anyone reading here, you will see a few photos first.
Busy week ahead, Tomorrow Anthrax, Black Label Society and Hatebreed at History and Thursday At the Gates, Municipal Waste and Enforced at Danforth Music Hall. A couple of great show, hopefully i’ll see some smiling familiar faces at both of these.
Anyhow here’s a couple of photos from my trip hope you all have a wonderful week!
