Cannibal Corpse & Krisuin

I wondered what to write on next. I had a post shared on Instagramwith me for a King Diamond Concert from 22 years ago. So, the next day I followed up with a post for Cradle Of Filth show I booked 23 years ago. This could be easy to use this as a goto for posts, but that will not be the only thing that will happen here.

Today is a bit of a cross promotion post

I booked Cannibal Corpse for my second time on August 10th, 2000. The first show was in 1998 at The el Mocambo on the Gallery Of Suicide tour.  This was their second time in Toronto with Corpsegrinder, now on the Bloodthirst Tour, upstairs at the reverb. Besides being excited for Cannibal, ‘Deathrace King’ ~ The Crown had blown my mind. This was a super fucking exciting time and this may have been Krisiun’s first Toronto show, which as well has turned into another +2 decade friendship. Always a pleasure when the Brothers and Alex roll through town

A Funny story from this show, they wanted a Barricade in front of the stage. If you remember the Reverb, it was up a flight of stairs.  The heavy barricades we use at larger venues was not going up those stairs. At the time, the cost to rent a barricade was closer to 1000$. This was a cost I was not prepared for. So…. Queen West was under construction, a decision was made to liberate some of the construction barricade from Queen for the show, and use that. We grabbed 5 or 6 pieces to set up in front of the stage. It was fucking collapsed less than halfway through the show. We did kindly return the now bent over barricade to the street after the show.

The summer heat was insane! The walls were sweating, the reverb was a shithole which I still booked shows into for 3 more years after this. We had an awesome gig. Like always in those days, we did party hard post show and memories were made.

Anybody reading this blog, attend this show?

22 years later, I find myself still working with these bands. There is a headline gig upcoming with Cannibal Corpse, headlining The Danforth Music Hall  and an Opening slot performance with Krisiun supporting Revocation at Lee’s Palace. Both of these gigs are exciting for me, and crazy enough, Revocation have recently dropped an upcoming song from the Upcoming Netherheaven which features both vocals from Corpsegrinder and from (RIP) Trevor Strnad
