ANVIL will release their highly anticipated 14th studio album Juggernaut of Justice on May 10, 2011 through The End Records and distributed by Sony Music Canada.
Juggernaut of Justice was recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Northridge, California with producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Filter, Alice Cooper). Among the 12 new songs is the title track which is now available as part of The End Records Spring sampler.
Considered a major influence for a generation of bands including Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Guns n’ Roses, Anvil’s early releases Hard ‘n’ Heavy (1981) and Metal on Metal (1982) helped shaped the genre of heavy metal. Twenty years after their first rise to success, the band became the subject of a critically acclaimed documentary, “Anvil! The Story of Anvil.” Directed by Sacha Gervasi, the film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008, and went on to win an Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary in 2010. Hitting theatres all over the world and then released on DVD, over 80 million people have seen the film to date, propelling the band back into the spotlight. Since the release of the film the band has toured the world, including performing at major festivals in the UK, Europe, Australia and Japan. The band just recently wrapped up their first tour of South America.
